Successful completion of PB I is a requirement for passing part one of each student’s Preliminary Comprehensive Evaluation. Through this survey course, students will be exposed to various subjects drawing from the breadth of plant biology. The list of precise subjects covered varies by year, but draws from the general areas of plant form and ecology, plant interactions, genetics, physiology, cell biology, and plant health. This year we will be starting the course with topics related to the identityof our main study organisms (weeks 2-4), how plants function(weeks 5-7), plant-microbe interactions(weeks 8-9), plant genetics and genetic tools(weeks 10-12), and ecological interactions(week 13).
